Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a federally funded program operated through NJAES, Rutgers Cooperative Extension at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders. EFNEP brings nutrition education to the limited resource families in Passaic County. This program brings nutrition education programming to homemakers, families or pregnant teens with young children.

Photo of a teacher.The purpose of EFNEP is to assist limited-resource families and youth in making behavior changes, and acquiring the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for them to achieve nutritionally sound diets.  In addition, the program is intended to increase food security and dietary and nutritional welfare of participants and their families.
