The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program NJ (NJ SNAP-Ed) is operated collaboratively through the Food Policy Institute, NJAES, Rutgers Cooperative Extension, and the Department of Nutritional Sciences at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders. NJ SNAP-Ed brings nutrition education to people who are receiving SNAP or who are SNAP eligible.
The purpose of SNAP-Ed is to assist limited resource families and youth or NJ SNAP participants in making behavior changes, and acquiring the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for them to achieve nutritionally sound diets, and to contribute to program participants' food security and their ability to improve their family's as well as their own, diets and nutrition.
